|
|
Hi there... I am having to sell my Landy... no 237 after 10 years as it does not work with 2 small children and car seats. Does anyone have any advice as to the best places to sell it and what it is worth please.... some of the prices seem huge ! Its done about 140k from new and had a new RPI engine professionally fitted about 10k ago. It is mechanically great, the body work is sound with a few scratches and the interior is a bit tired... any idea on valuation?
I have some pictures, but not sure how to get them on here
Thank you so much for your help, Martin |

Values are hard to determine on 50ths at the moment. To state the obvious it is worth what someone will pay for it; whilst there are many people who would like a 50th Defender, there are only a few at any one time who can/ will actually pull the money out of their account and pay for one.
Really good 50ths with low mileage have made around £40,000 in the recent past; a high mileage, average condition one sold recently for £19,000 so I would say MOT'd, good usable 50ths are now probably valued between £20k-40k depending upon mileage/ condition/ service history. An MOT failure or restoration project would need to be cheaper i imagine.
Advertising it on here is a good starting point to target an enthusiastic, although limited audience.
If you are definitely selling rather than just testing the market then auction is a simple way to get a quick sale and if you pick the right auction you will achieve the market value for your car on that day.
One was sold in BCA Blackbushe a while ago and made very good money, Anglia Car Auctions in Kings Lynn have sold a few 50ths in their quarterly Classic Car Auctions. eBay is always an option, but you do tend to get a lot of idiots and may well get a non paying high bidder.
Otherwise you could work out how much you you'd be happy with and put it on Autotrader. Last option is to put it on sale or return with one of the specialist Defender dealers, of which there are a few around the country. |
