What is the view of the forum on the effect of the 50th getting to 25 years old and its eligibility to be imported to the USA - given the UK are all RHD, do we think values will increase - or is teh view given they had the NAS spec ones anyway it will have little to no effect?

Personally I don’t see it making much difference as, as you say, they had a LHD NAS for some time. If there is a demand it would be for original models not those modified.

To export to the USA it'll need to be on the original chassis, galvanised chassis isn't allowed so any 50ths with replacement chassis won't be affected at all. However with the best of the NAS90 vehicles now attracting prices over US$ 100,000 I can see original 50ths in good condition being in demand and prices reflecting that demand, Only my opinion but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see prices for exportable 50ths passing £50,000 when they are 25 years old, with the ex Japan ones being in demand as they generally suffer less from rust issues...

great thoughts guys - I am contemplating selling mine - but not 100% so just thinking about the options - thankfully it is on its original chassis...and 54k miles Smile

I got told by one of the 'bling it up' companies specialising in Defenders at a classic car show at the London Arena 2 years back, that 50th's would not be importable into the the States when they hit 25 years old. He was pretty adamant to the point of calling me stupid if I thought they were .... nice chap (and wrong)
