| It was along time ago that I used an autoelectrician to install my central locking. I just think I remember him connecting to the 10AS unit...? |

I used the Falcon 4x4 kit which was based on the SPAL automtive CDL kit - electric windows were the same. Falcon then sold a magic box which took a signal feed off the volumetric sensor arming wire, which when you pressed the key fob a signal was received by the falcon box which triggered the door actuators and the electric windows to close. You could ring SPAL, I found them very helpful and see if they know who manufactured the Falcon 4x4 box. The only other way I know off is as per the link which means soldering onto the alarm ECU which is located behind the speedo and is b****r to get out! I have no idea if this option works.
Sorry can't be any more help. _________________ Cheers

Not sure if this helps but I have had a Toad Cat 1 alarm fitted. In the course of this the installer hooked up central locking to run of the Toad remote fob & its always worked perfectly ( front doors only). We were also able to leave the factory fitted alarm system in situ so hopefully I got an extra layer of protection....or double trouble at some time in the future when it all goes pear shaped !!! _________________ Getting older but it beats the alternative

Hi,
I have recently bought GB099. I want to install central locking. Vehicle is currently with RJ Landrover in Sawtry and they say it is not possible.
I can see from other posts that it is, and even possible to base it on the immobiliser fob.
Guidance please, anybody? |

| buy damaged doors from written off TD5 Defender with central locking. Swap internals to yours. At same time get the wiring loom from the bulkhead and extract the wires to the doors. Refit wires to your vehicle using the plugs from alarm box as well. Quite straight forward for a mechanic. As far as the rear door you can either lock it manually or gat the wire, plugs and actuator from a Td5 and fabricate a system, along with fitting a rear door latch with link rod for central locking. |

easy as will find link to it or simon will ,l lmd did mine
all you have to do is solder two wires to the as10 unit then to control box for actuators blip remote send signal to control box and jobs a good un bit of fiddling putting actuators on the doors and wiring back to fuse box but nothing hard for auto electrician you can buy central locking system off ebay
very cheaply

Thanks to all respondees,
Have advised RJ and will see what they come up with.
Now, to the crux of it.
Opinions sought:
I want to keep 099 fairly original, but am so tempted by JE's "Zulu" upgrades.
Really want to make 099 be the best it can be, but if I go this route they will have to fit a later higher bonnet to shoehorn the engine in and 18" wheels to fit the brakes.
I am sure that feelings will run high about these changes, but I would keep all the original bits should I ever sell so that a future owner could undo everything (but I guess the engine/bonnet change would be pretty irreversible).
But to have 099 showing it's spare wheel to the RR Sport wallahs away from the lights would be extremely satisfying.
OK, I am sure I have opened a can of worms... |

Hi everyone, I too and trying to fit central locking and electric windows.
I have found some TD5 doors with the fittings and but am wondering what else I need?
Does anyone know id the 10AS unit on a 50th is compatible or does it need adapting or replacing?
Has anyone come up with a better solution?
Thanks for any advice!
